About Thornbury

Thornbury is a lovely market town in South Gloucestershire, only 12 miles north of Bristol. It is easy to access as it's only 10 minutes off the M5 - so the perfect place to stop on your travels.

Thornbury is a Britain in Bloom Award Winning town and looks stunning in the summer with flowers throughout the town centre and beyond.

Perhaps its best known landmark is Thornbury Castle, a Tudor building.  It was once owned by King Henry VIII who stayed a the castle for 10 days on his honeymoon tour with Anne Boleyn.  Now a luxury hotel it is possible to stay in the same room as Henry.

With many events throughout the year including Thornbury in Bloom, Thornbury Carnival, the Thornbunny Hunt and the Christmas Lights Switch On there is always something to do.
