Why work for Papilio coffee?
We believe in the High Street, both in Thornbury and beyond, and the importance of independent businesses in adding excellent customer service and individuality to them. We also believe in providing the customer with excellent quality products at reasonable prices; this applies to both the Gift and Coffee Shops. Being a welcoming place for people to gather and shop is integral to everything we do. Under our ownership, Papilio at Heritage (previously Heritage in Thornbury) has transformed from a shop that parents were hesitant to bring their children into, to a place with Brio play tables and baskets of toys for children to play with and enjoy themselves, whilst their parents shop or sit and have a coffee. Our baby changing table is in our unisex toilet as we recognise that Dads also change nappies! During August we have weekly, free, events in the garden for children. Full accessibility is something we are also constantly working towards. Our new, decked ramp ensures there are no steps between the coffee shop and the deck outside, enabling everyone to enjoy the garden. Staff are also trained in interacting with customers with dementia and other needs. In Papilio coffee we pride ourselves on (and are well-known for) our home-made cakes and scones - only the gluten-free cakes are bought in from our large suppliers. Our food (brunch and light lunches) are made from fresh ingredients, locally sourced where possible, with generous portion sizes at excellent value. Our upside down tea timers for our loose leaf tea are an example of the attention to detail and desire to be a bit different that is integral to how we operate.
